LCI honors Victor Sanvido, Southland Industries, with Pioneer Award at upcoming LCI Congress
ARLINGTON, Va. – Oct. 09, 2019 — Felipe Engineer-Manriquez, McCarthy Building Companies, will receive the Lean Construction Institute (LCI) Chairman’s Award for his contributions to the Institute and the design and construction industry as a whole. This award recognizes the unique contributions of individuals whose service to LCI and its programs has been particularly noteworthy and impactful over an extended period.
As Lean Director, Felipe works to promote the implementation of Lean continuous improvement principles within McCarthy, as well as among project participants across the industry. A certified Scrum Master, he brings the use of Scrum to project planning processes in a way that is highly supportive of LCI’s Last Planner System™, especially in the key Design Phase. He has been a true pioneer in bringing scrum concepts most closely associated with software development into the design and construction industry — adding a whole new dimension to LCI’s education programs.
“Felipe brings tremendous passion and enthusiasm to all that he does. He has an infectious enthusiasm for spreading the word about the benefits of Lean Design and Construction. His dedication to continuously improving our industry shines forth in every presentation he makes. Beyond the strides he has made in promoting the use of Lean techniques within McCarthy Builders, he enthusiastically applies his gifts in educating and public speaking toward transforming our industry as a whole.” — LCI Executive Director Dan Heinemeier
Felipe’s leadership skills have been applied to a host of other LCI programs over the years, including serving on the leadership team for our annual Congress meeting, leading its Learning Days program, and encouraging adoption of new approaches to improve the planning process itself. He has served in a leadership role to plan, execute and facilitate a series of national Last Planner™ Workshops. Currently, he is working to establish an entirely new LCI Community of Practice to promote adoption of Lean Design and Construction in the St. Louis construction market.
“As a nationally recognized LCI Instructor, Felipe teaches at forums across the country. He consistently contributes materials for the further development of our educational programs, a body of knowledge that will continue to serve our industry for years to come.” Heinemeier continued, “Felipe’s past and continuing contributions will stand as a lasting legacy within our industry, and for that reason he is a hugely deserving recipient of this year’s award.
” Felipe will be honored with the LCI Chairman’s Award on Thursday morning during the 21st Annual LCI Congress, Oct. 14-18, in Fort Worth, Texas.
