Supporting Lockheed Martin Skunk Works® Need for Rapid and Reliable Validation (L.A./Orange County CoP)

The Lockheed Martin Skunk Works^® team is in the business of innovation. Evaluating a large number of highly diverse and complex projects is a perpetual, and often challenging, part of their business. Fully understanding the Scope of each project is essential to their mission. Presenting the Scope in a format that could be quickly and easily understood by diverse stakeholders would help the project team create a common understanding and a “shared memory artifact” of the Scope. Lockheed Martin worked with Burns & McDonnel (BMcD) to try using Fundamental Scope Blocks (FSBs) to meet the client’s expectations for a “minimum viable product” to support their capital funding planning process.

• Dan Koenisgsfeld, Burns & McDonnell - Dan is an EPC Projects Director and Client Manager specializing in pre-capital business consulting, engineering, procurement, construction, start-up and commissioning of complex aerospace and general manufacturing facilities.
• Ryan Cummings, Burns & McDonnell - Ryan has been with Burns & McDonnell since 2013. As a Project Manager he plans, designs, permits, constructs, and manages projects all over the world with one mission in mind - to make his clients successful. Just as valuable as technical expertise, some of the most important skill sets an engineer can bring to the table are communication, collaboration, and problem solving. All of these are absolutely required to make both my clients and my colleagues successful. 
• John Strickland, Burns & McDonnell - John has been an active proponent of LCI since participating in the founding of the organization in 1997. He brings more than 40 years of construction experience ranging from hands-on work as a carpenter to leading major design/build projects for key industrial clients. John is driven to bring innovative thinking to the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) industry bringing a passion for workplace safety, learning, smooth flow, and innovation.
